Feeling Festive with Boohoo 🎄
10 December 2017
After not posting for two months (I will do a post on my little impromptu break at a later date) I decided to finally sit down and right today and come back to you guys with a BANG(ing) dress! The lovely gals at Boohoo have a dress of the month and they were kind enough to let me style one of their monty styles up for you guys. With the festive season well and truly here (it's currently snowing outside as I write this, YAY) it's the time to be bold with colour and your accessories...
C'est La Vie
20 October 2017
I'm a sucker for a blue and white striped tee. Anything Breton striped inspired but without the price tag and I'm there, so it's no surprise that my wardrobe is currently bursting with approx 10+ striped T-shirts - in a variety of shapes and colours, of course! I find them so easy to style up with jeans, skirts, shorts (when we get that brief heatwave over the summer, that is) and even layered under denim dresses. What's more, they're a timeless fashion piece that you can have hanging in your wardrobe and still wear for years to come - and what's not to love about that?!
Make a House (Share) a Home 🏡
18 October 2017
I've just resigned my contract for another year in a house in North London so thought it would be an apt time to give you an updated tour of my own little room. Obviously the title of this post tells you straight away that I live in a house share with three other people (one of which, Verity hey!, I would now call one of my best friends) and so I wanted to share a few tips and tricks I've done to make my empty shell of a room into a cosy home.
For the love of florals 🌸
13 October 2017
Thank God it's Friday! I've never been more ready for the weekend than I am right now. My plans? I'm going to be attempting to shoot my own outfit photos for on here (I'll keep you posted with how that goes) and will be getting my hair did...and may go a little drastic but we'll see how brave I feel at 9am on a Saturday.
Primark Haul A/W '17 🍂
11 October 2017
I want to say that's it been a long old while since I did my last Primark haul but you and I both know that statement is just an outright lie! With the weather changing, though it was definitely time for me to take a little trip to one of my favourite high street stores and, oh my, they definitely didn't disappoint! I'm just going to put a disclaimer out there right now...I bought a lot of jumpers as I just couldn't choose between all of them...
The Blazer Top
6 October 2017
Let's face it this no-jacket thing just isn't happening any more, is it? But, the optimist that I am (ahem) it's always good to find an outfit that works without having to wear anything over it. Having said that, this outfit works for spring, the British summer, autumn and winter so wouldn't look odd if it had a cute little leather jacket or even huge Borg teddy coat flung over the shoulders. but, I digress - let's talk about the blazer top!
My Life at 27
3 October 2017
I'm sat on my bed on a cold Sunday night, cup of tea in hand and a tray of Ferrero Rocher to my right (okay half a tray, I've had a food-heavy weekend alright) so I thought I would write up this post I'd had on the back burner for a while - well, since I turned 27 way back in July anyways. It's sometimes a nice change to not write about the latest fashion trends or another Primark haul (not saying there isn't one coming soon) but to just sit down with a cuppa and write. And, to simply write about anything, which is exactly what I'm going to do here (if you're going to read all of this I would grab yourself a hot beverage an' all).
Why did I want to write a post like this? I hear you cry! And, what on earth is this already-rambling post actually about Sam? Well, it's just a note. A note to myself, and to every other 27(+) year old out there, who isn't in a relationship or married or maybe they're someone who hasn't found their dream job yet or don't even know where they want to end up in their career. It's also a reassurance that there is no right path in this world, nor is there a wrong one...ooft, we're getting pretty deep now aren't we...
The White Midi Dress
15 September 2017
Whilst it may be blowing a gale outside and I'm snuggled down with a hot water bottle in my winter jammies, that doesn't mean summer is over for another year just yet! I'm all about a simple, comfortable yet stylish outfit for when the weather is just too hot to handle (sweat ain't stylish is it, let's be honest). This white midi dress is just the thing to keep the sweat at bay if you're off on your holiyays, or still holding out for one last stint of summer sun!
Back to Blonde 💁
12 September 2017
About a year or so ago, I decided I wanted to go blonde. And not just blonde but blonde blonde, you know? So, I finally plucked up the courage to go to the hairdressers and pay an arm and a leg to go from dirty, multicoloured brunette hair to a fresh new do. I paid just £70 (this was back home in Somerset not London, just fyi) and we lifted it a little, and gradually over time I got the bright blonde colour I really wanted. But then I soon got bored of paying for the upkeep of having blonde hair (and paying £75 every time I needed my highlights retouched) so returned to my faithful brown locks. But, it wasn't long before I missed having lighter hair and so I decided to go for the change once again, this time in London. Mainly to see how different my experience would be, and if the outcome differed as well...
A Day At Kew Gardens 🌿
6 September 2017
My Somerset friend and I were looking to get a little bit of green whilst spending our August bank holiday in London. And so, with the weather looking absolutely fabulous we decided to head super south to spend the day at Kew Gardens. Founded by Princess Augusta, Princess of Wales and mother of King George III, Kew gardens is home to the largest collection of plants in the world - and they hold the most variety...
Casual Summer Look
1 September 2017
You know what they say - if you like something why not buy it in every colour? and that's exactly what I've done with this banging ASOS top! A couple of weeks ago you saw me talk about the white version (currently my fave thing to wear....and now out of stock) and low and behold I found me a gorgeous lilac version. With the weather still playing ball, it's the perfect thing to wear with jeans or a skirt...
Summer Clothing Haul: ASOS & Topshop
30 August 2017
You know when the weather starts changing and the shops start getting all this brand-spanking new pieces in and you just want to buy EVERYTHING?! Yeah, well, that's exactly what happened when I took a 'look' at what ASOS and Topshop were offering up a couple of weeks ago and, well, I bought so much that I obviously had to do a haul on here and show you guys what I picked up...
The best top i'll ever own
11 August 2017
Whilst the weather has been playing havoc with what the hell I can wear this week, let's just forget about that for a sec and hope that our summer in England isn't over just yet! With that in mind, I think I've found the perfect summer/autumn transitional outfit in today's post and it's probably my favourite outfit to wear at the moment!
Primark Haul Summer '17
8 August 2017
But seriously, how long has it been since I last did a Primark haul for you lovely lot? Being on a spending ban is hard when every Tom, Dick and Harry (Instagrammer, Youtuber and Blogger) is hitting up Primark because the high street store has never been so good, and the clothes are getting better and better! From that faux suede jacket to a couple of gorgeous Zara dupes and a dress that looks a lot like a Free People design - this haul's got it all. So, grab a cuppa on this bleak (August, eh?) Tuesday morning and get ready to feel inspired for the summer we're still due...
Going OUT Out
21 July 2017
Okay, so at the time I wasn't actually going OUT out but who cares, right? Slogan T-shirts have been around for quite a while already and they show no sign of letting up! If you haven't already hopped on the trend, then there's still time - it looks like they're even making their way into the autumn and winter fashion months as well!
The perfect lunch with Boursin
18 July 2017
It's not often that I give a foodie post a go on here - mainly because I'm a) not the best cook and b) I'm more of a 'quick cook and eat it!' kinda gal when I get in from work. But, when there's cheese involved I'm all for creating a yummy light lunch or snack that I've never had before - whilst it's not a revolutionary new thing to eat, it's still one that took me a while to get to grips with (wrapping parma ham around chicken, who knew it would be so hard?) oh and it includes delicious Boursin cheese, of course! So, if you fancy picking yourself up some Boursin and creating a cheesy chicken wrapped in parma ham with new potatoes and tomatoes then keep reading!
The Smart Casual
14 July 2017
'Jeans and a top' is my classic look, not only on a day-to-day basis but also when I'm going out out but then it changes to 'jeans and a nice top'. Sometimes it's nice to have a little change up and go for a different style/ cut/ colour of jean and a top you wouldn't have necessarily normally looked twice at. Who would have thought that at 26 (nearly 27) I would own and love my own pair of cream jeans...
The Perfect Picnic with Boursin
11 July 2017
England has been lapping up some seriously glorious sunshine in recent weeks and what better way to celebrate the heat than with a yummy picnic? My friend Verity and I headed out to our local park carrying with us a gorgeous hamper filled to the brim with delicious treats (and some vino, of course) to pitch up and have a good old-fashioned picnic and catch up...before Love Island started, obviously...
Cut-Outs & Polkadots
30 June 2017
Sod's law that as I go to schedule a post that it's been the worst week for us weather-wise! Nevertheless, the sun has to come back to us at some point, am I right? And this is just the perfect look to take you from work to drinks, a day out with friends or if you're heading out on a shopping trip (who isn't?) and need something to slip on and off.
Why I (kinda) went on a spending ban...again
27 June 2017
So it got to that point (once again) in the year where I had that sudden realisation that I'd spent far too much already on clothes, shoes, bags etc - with not a lot to show for it. With this, I decided to go on another spending ban (take a look at my previous ban I wrote about a year ago here) and challenged myself to go a whole month without spending a single penny frivolously. In my last ban I kept a diary but I decided this time I would explain more about why I went on a spending ban, whether it made a difference to my savings and if I even missed having mountains of new clothes every month...
Green & Yellow Florals
16 June 2017
I don't think I'll ever get bored of florals for spring...and summer or the continuing embroidery trend, that we're still going to be seeing on the high street come autumn and winter, as you will already know if you read my previous post. An embroidered shirt and pair of crisp denim jeans is fast becoming my go-to everyday uniform and, whilst I do still love my beloved Converse, loafer shoes are my new love...
F&F Autumn/ Winter '17 Collection
11 June 2017
I was recently invited to take a look at the new Autumn/ winter collection from F&F by Tesco and I was so so so impressed with the amazing pieces on show that I knew I wanted to do a post about some of the best bits. All of their clothing is super reasonably priced (supermarkets are actually some of my favourite places to find hidden bargain pieces), well made and perfect for a huge variety of ages! Take a look at the collection while I talk you through it at the same time...
Spring Culottes
19 May 2017
No, no it really is spring (let's just ignore the drizzle currently happening outside right now) and so it's time to say goodbye to the tights and dare to bare! Well, kinda....hmm okay not really! Culottes are one of my favourite pieces to wear for this season and summer as they're so versatile and comfortable and, if they happen to come in jumpsuit form then I'm all ears...
Living in London: Is it Worth It?
17 May 2017
Making the big move from sleepy Somerset to bustling London was always going to be a big deal for me, and not an easy decision to make either. Moving away from my comfort zone and entire family who have never lived anywhere but Somerset was tough, but I've now been in London for just over a year and think I can share with you all the highs and low/ ups and downs/ pros and cons of living in 'our fair city'...
Oversized Florals
5 May 2017
Floral prints will never go out of style, especially in spring and summer! My wardrobe is packed full of florals, whether that be in print or embroidery form, and I just think it's a perfect go-to pattern to turn to when you want to inject a bit of feminine detailing into your look. Plus, this pretty print can also be dressed up or down...
Denim Style Staples Everyone Needs
3 May 2017
Seeing as denim is one of the most iconic fabrics (and my favourite to wear) I thought it was about time to do a little denim haul and show you guys some of my favourite pieces I wear over and over again. These denim style staples will (hopefully) inspire you to nail the timeless denim trend and show you pieces you might not necessarily have thought of purchasing before...
Skater Girl
28 April 2017
A good old skater dress can hide a multitude of sins (including last night's chocolate indulgence) and they're probably my go-to style of dress to just throw on day or night. A lot of my dresses are in this style and the skater style is just a classic trend that comes back over and over again - plus, it suits a lot of body shapes which isn't easy for one little style of dress...
Spring Primark Haul
25 April 2017
I realise I've gone a little bit haul crazy recently, but with the weather taking a turn for the better, now seems to be the perfect time to get excited about spring and (eventually) summer! What better place to head to than Primark to pick up a few fab bits ready for the months where going bare legged won't fill you with fear and light-wash denim is your new best friend...
Hear Me Roar
21 April 2017
As someone who's always been kinda against leopard print, it's pretty shocking that this is one of my favourite skirts to wear out at the moment. From Next, I picked it up way back in the January sales and, as it's such a great fit, it is one of my favourite bargains of this year so far!
ASOS Haul
18 April 2017
It happens all to often, I head over to ASOS on the hunt for just one thing then two hours have passed and I've got a 'save for later' that's overflowing and begging to be bought. With the warmer weather finally here (but for how long, we just don't know), I decided to pick up a few things to incorporate into my spring/ summer wardrobe. And, yes, there is a fair few embroidered bits in there...
Getting Shirty
14 April 2017
Every now and then there's a piece that comes along that people just go absolutely nuts for, this shirt is one of those pieces! My friend Larissa wore it when we went out last summer and I loved it so much I headed out to Zara the next day to pick one up for myself. Then I spotted someone at work wearing it, then my friend also bought it on my recommendation and so the embroidery obsession trend started...
Bag Collection: Top 10
12 April 2017
Some girls just can't get enough shoes into their wardrobe or pieces of jewellery jammed into their jewellery box but, for me it's always been about the bag! I think at one point I had close to 50 (maybe even more) handbags in my collection, but half of them didn't get used so I started to get more selective with my choices and pin-pointed the ones I used enough to keep. Whilst I still probably have 'too many' bags and there's definitely some that I use more often than others, I still thought I'd share my top 10 with you and tell you why they're still in my wardrobe...
The Wrap Around Blouse
7 April 2017
This seems to be my go-to outfit for hot-cold spring days, when I first spotted this top in Topshop (a while ago, admittedly as it's annoyingly no longer available) I thought it would suit my body shape really well and be the perfect top for day to day and going out out.
The Pressure to Post
4 April 2017
Even sat here (okay I'm lying in bed propping myself up with about five cushions), watching Made In Chelsea and eating a three-day old doughnut, I'm wondering whether I should even write this post. And, then wondering if I should even post it. There's always a little bit of fear when you set a new post live that you sound like a moaning little bitch, but also it's been a 'classic Monday' and I'm insanely tired from work and life in general. BUT, here I am mustering up some energy to type out a post all about the the annoying side to blogging and the pressure I - and no doubt a huge amount of other bloggers out there - feel when we've established a successful (little) corner of the Internet.
The Floral Midi Dress
28 March 2017
I feel like whenever I say "I'm back" I disappear from here just as quickly. These past few weeks I just haven't felt like blogging but now I finally feel like sitting down at my laptop with a cuppa and Made In Chelsea playing in the background and getting down to it. I'm not going to say "I'm back" this time (let's just see how things go, shall we?) but the best thing to get me into the blogging game again is with a floral outfit post. It's finally spring after all!
ASOS & Zara Haul: New Spring Pieces
21 February 2017
As with any new season there comes a want and need to add new clothes to your wardrobe and I especially find myself drawn to the shops (both high street and online) when going through that winter to spring transition. Florals are obviously the name of the game and with Zara and ASOS leading the way in the high street fashion stakes at the moment I, of course took full advantage of the new bits that had landed in my two favourite stores...
Valentine's Day with Moonpig
9 February 2017
Where have I been?
7 February 2017
After a two month hiatus on this lil piece of the internet I'm finally back! So, where the hell have I been and why haven't I felt the need or the want to blog? There's been a whole host of reasons (some a lot deeper and more profound than others) so I just thought I would fill you in with what's been happening over the past couple of months and why I took a *much needed* break from blogging...
