Absolutely Bootea'ful
23 June 2014
Today I enjoyed my last cup of BOOTEA, the two week 'teatox' that allows you to eat some of what you still love while cutting out the bad bits - mainly meat. That was the challenge for me, as a meat lover like the rest of my family I found it hard to completely cut out all of it so I still ate skinless chicken but got rid of all red meat - I was dreaming of steak for a while at the start. This means you are completely cleansed of all toxins that are found in beef, lamb, sausages etc and after 14 days without it I feel a lot better, both physically and mentally. In the 14 day tea pack you are provided with a two week daytime tea and a one week night time one, the night tea is a laxative so you only take this one every other day, and it really does work!! While the taste isn't anything spectacular it is nice and I found it easy to get into a tea routine.
I had previously done the detox but didn't really take a lot of notice to the eating plan they provide for you so didn't see much of a difference. This time I did pay close attention to it and found myself losing a couple of inches from waist and thighs and my stomach being a lot less bloated. I haven't added any photos of the transformation as, in my case, it was more mentally rewarding. The reason for the detox was for me to try and sleep better and become more active during the day. I can say the detox definitely works for this, I am more alert (as you may tell in my recent blog posts) and I also wake up a lot earlier (about 7:30 am) and no longer feel like I need a nap come 5 o'clock.
Some of the food I enjoyed most on the eating plan were the fish dishes - already a huge fan of fish I found different ways to cook it and teamed it with food I wouldn't normally have picked therefore producing new exciting flavours. My favourite concoction though was my wholemeal pitta pizzas I created; with feta cheese, tomatoes, pesto, red pepper and spinach I found these even tastier than normal pizzas!
Have you tried a detox before or thinking of trying this one? Let me know, I'd love to hear your thoughts.

To the Maxi!

MAXI DRESS PRIMARK | ESPADRILLE'S NEW LOOK | POLAROID ARGOS | SUNGLASSES ASOS | BANGLE ASOS
As a tall gal it's incredibly hard for me to find clothes that fit my long legs well; this goes for trousers, skirts, shorts and even dresses - everything I pick up would look the right length on a normal sized lady but me? Nope, it's 'legs out, all out' time. It may seem like I'm complaining about something a lot of people would kill for but honestly it is a annoying, however the ever faithful (especially this summer) Primark has brought in a maxi that's not only a great print but will also fit a giant like me.
First thing that drew me to the dress was the colours; pretty blues, pinks and purples instantly made me think of holiday and more specifically Greece. As I'm heading to Cyprus (almost Greece, well not really but you know) in just over a week I thought this would be perfect for that. The brown belt also comes with it and cinches your waist in perfectly, so you can still show off your figure - something some maxi dresses don't do!
I decided instead of flip flops or sandals I would put my well worn espadrilles with this dress so you get the idea of wearing it around town or exploring a new country rather than just for lazing on the beach. The polaroid camera was my £50 bargain from Argos and it gives you really great looking photos, the bangle and sunglasses are both from ASOS adding a little something extra to the whole look.

WHITE RUCKSACK PRIMARK | HEADBAND HANDMADE | FLIP FLOPS H&M | MINI TOILETRIES PRIMARK | PASSPORT COVER WHSMITH | WOVEN BEACH BAG PRIMARK |
PURSE PRIMARK | SUNGLASSES ASOS | TRAVEL PLUG SUPERDRUG
It's that time of year, holiday time! My holiday begins with taking the coach from Somerset to my friends flat in London, staying overnight then taking the train to the airport then finally getting on a plane to somewhere hot hot hot, Cyprus to be exact. With that in mind I had the inspiration to write a little holiday post about some of the essentials - and not so essential essentials - I take with me that will hopefully make you think about what you really need to take. Do you need that fourth handbag? Probably not. Your sixth pair of heels? Certainly not. With my luggage limit being 15kg this year I am condensing what I take without trying to miss anything out. It's a struggle, believe me.
This is just a quick snippet of what I'll be taking, the majority of which I can cheekily store in my hand luggage. First, the boring stuff; a travel plug is obviously a good start to any holiday packing - even if you're going with friends and they've all told you they'll take one it's good to have more in case it gets lost, or the more likely option of you all wanting to do your hair at the same time. Next, the passport!!! Don't forget the passport, and how could you if you have a fun cover for it? Yes, you may have to take it off for security through the airport but when you chuck in your bag later on you're not scrambling and panicking as it's going to stand out more. Especially the cover I bought from WHSMITH as I thought it was a little fun (so cool, aren't I?) but it's also one of my favourite novels.
Onto the more fun things! This rucksack, I mean just look at it! My £9, yup £9 bargain from Primark is a little risky I must admit, I'll be protecting this bright white item with my life wearing rubber gloves to carry it at all times - I joke obviously but it is going to be hard to keep it white but it just grabbed me as soon as I walked into the shop. The beach bag is also from Primark - how well is this high street brand doing at the moment? Amazing - and perfect to just chuck your beach towel, sun screen and purse in. The flip flops are from H&M and me not really being a great fan of this particular shoe style I thought these were a good compromise, no rubber in sight! The last item(s) I wanted to share were these miniature toiletries, to me anything mini is always a winner but when you're luggage allowance is as little as mine then they are a necessity.
Are you off anywhere nice? Leave me a comment and share your thoughts with what you would take and where you're headed, I'd love to hear from you.

Who likes short shorts?

SHELL TOP NEW LOOK | SUNGLASSES RIVER ISLAND (OLD) | SHORTS PRIMARK | NECKLACE YOKOWOO ACCESSORIES | GLITTER JELLIES JUJU JELLY SHOES
I like short shorts! I want to make my apologies now that you have to look at my gangly, white legs in these images however I wanted to show off this fab pair of shorts I found in Primark for the bargain price of £10. God, I love that place. I went to Plymouth yesterday to see a close friend from uni who I hadn't seen in agessss and he ended up leaving me in there as I was taking so long. Oops. I did size up with these as they seemed a little tight, could be just me piling on some holiday weight, and they are a little bit cheeky if you hoist them up too high - but perfect for holiday over a bikini and on the beach.
I decided to stick with the light colours for this outfit and paired it with my go to favourite pastel shell top from New Look. It's a top you can literally wear with anything and is so so comfortable, especially if you're off out eating (a lot of what I write revolves around food, have you noticed?) and the pastel hue is bang on trend for Summer this year. Of course, the finishing touches had to include my JUJU jelly shoes, statement necklace from YOKOWOO ACCESSORIES and aviator sunglasses that I bought quite a while ago from River Island.
Hope you like! And let me know if you've managed to get your hands on these short shorts, they come in a variety of colours and I'm already wishing I got them in blue and pink too.

What is with all the coordinates at the moment? It seems to be THE item(s) of summer and a lot of online stores even have their own little link just for the matching ensemble. I must admit I haven't purchased a coord yet, however I am planning on making my own ready for my holiday next week - eeeek! - so I'll do a post if it turns out well enough. But I digress! Back to the reason I'm writing, coords. Celebs having been wearing them, shops having been selling out of them and some very talented people - myself not included - have been making them, check out Laura Ralph on Facebook and you will fall in love especially with the fabrics she uses, so retro!
And that's the thing about this trend isn't it? Retro. What we're all loving at the moment, that proper 90s summer vibes - cue Will Smith singing summer time - and why I've picked these four as my coord favourites from some of the best high street and online stores. Whether you want to keep it simple with this black one from Motel or this gorgeous sheer white set from BOOHOO.com or fancy mixing it up with some summer prints every outlet has something different. My ultimate favourite - if you absolutely MADE me pick would be the palm tree print top and skirt from MISSGUIDED, you'll be able to go bold with accessories as the colour isn't to overbearing. Beaut!

Play Time
14 June 2014
It's darn hard for me to find a playsuit that fits properly, God knows I've tried for years but as I'm tall with a small waist and big chest it's hard to get one that doesn't show too much cheek. Then I wandered into River Island with my mum not expecting to find anything that exciting, when this grabbed my eye. I picked it up first because of the print, I mean, how pretty and summery does one piece of clothing get?? The second was that it was down from £25 to £15, that sealed it for me and I went off to pay with a huge smile on my face.
Although I hadn't yet tried it on, uh oh! Rookie mistake, but when I finally did it fit like a glove and I cannot be more happy with it. It was one of the hottest days we've had this year (so far) when I did this shoot during the week so perfect weather conditions to test out just how cool this piece would keep me, especially on holiday. It held up perfectly and I can't wait to wear it on the beach or out for cocktails at the end of the month! Teamed with me ASOS fedora, Primark sandals I think it makes an effortless look and one that i'll be wearing all too often.

DENIM SHIRT GEORGE AT ASDA // RABBIT NECKLACE ASOS // BOYFRIEND SWEATSHIRT ASOS //
WHITE JEANS NEXT // BROWN SANDALS PRIMARK
I am a big fan of layering, even in the summer months. When I was shooting this look is was sunny and bright but there was a bit of a chill in the air so I quickly made the decision to layer up my look and I really like the result. Blue is one of my favourite colours, boy that I am, probably because it has calming connotations which I need more of and the fact that it matches my eyes which is always a bonus! The denim shirt was a pleasant surprise in my local ASDA store, browsing around the George section and I spotted it and instantly needed it. It's become a go-to staple in my wardrobe.
The jeans, I bought last summer, are from Next and the layering boyfriend sweatshirt is from a fave online store of mine, ASOS. I think if you're going to pick a darker colour to layer, like this sweatshirt, it's good to go for a paler colour to wear it with. This goes for the summer months anyway, in winter you can get away with teaming it with black jeans and still look fab.
The bag and shoes - both Primark are new(ish) additions to my accessories collection. The shoes are amazingly comfy and have a strap around the ankle - can't really see it here - and I love the colour, but if brown isn't really your thing then they also come in white and black too! Yay! Last but not least, my necklace. As I've said in a previous post I love a good novelty jewellery piece - and this hare necklace is no exception. A great little gem to add to this outfit.
