Yesterday I turned the ripe old age of 24 so to soften the blow of nearly hitting the quarter of a Century mark my mother took me to Hestercombe Gardens in Somerset. The heatwave thankfully continued and we were hit with a scorcher of a day, perfect conditions for walking around such beautiful surroundings. After visiting all my family in the morning for birthday treats we set off around half past 11 and arrived at Hestercombe without getting lost, my mum's lived in Somerset her whole life but still we have some issues with navigation.
Once there, we were welcomed in and decided to go for the saver option of entry fee plus afternoon tea for £18.95 which we didn't think was bad at all. After walking the gardens and lapping up the unbelievable grandeur of the grounds we headed off to the newly refurbished vintage tearooms. This was probably one of only a few parts of the house that was really new, everything else was brimming with history. We settled into our seat, serviette placed ready and enjoyed a glass of prosecco as we waited a brief time for our tea.
My mum's face when the afternoon tea came out was a picture I wish I'd captured, she didn't think we would be able to eat it all and she was almost proven right. Leaving only a few sandwiches and cake we were stuffed to the brim, so much so we couldn't walk the rest of the ground...oops. I highly recommend this beautiful tourist attraction, if you're ever in Somerset it's definitely worth the money.
p.s my mum isn't good at selfies.
