Halloween MOTD
31 October 2014
Oooooooo things are getting a little spooky around here...HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE! After I showed you an outfit post on Monday (read it here) I thought it would be a good idea to show you what make up I would wear with that particular outfit if I were going out this halloween. I started by crimping my hair to the extreme using my Babyliss crimper, there is not a single straight strand on that head, it took me the best part of an hour and it got a bit tedious but it's such a simple and effective way of completely changing your look for this spooky holiday.
I'm definitely no make up artist and everything I used on my face for this look is from the high street, and products I already had in my bag. I found my Body Shop foundation was the best to create a pale, glowing look on my skin then I gradually just built up colour on my eyes using my W7 In The Buff palette. I defined my eyebrows more with my Primark eyebrow pencil and created more definition in the eyes using my Eyeko eyeliner and Rimmel Scandaleyes mascara. For the lips I used a simple chubby stick for the pop of berry colour and then added some black eyeshadow (yup, eyeshadow) to make it a little darker.

V&A Wedding Dresses 1755-2014
29 October 2014
all images sourced from V&A website
This weekend I made the short (though longer than planned) trip from Somerset to London to visit my super best friend Danielle - but she works ridiculous long hours so I had some time to kill on the Saturday. So, of course, a trip to the Victoria and Albert Museum was made. The Wedding Dress Exhibition was one I had wanted to see for a long time (it's been on since May), but it is a rare occurrence that I get a weekend off to go to our lovely Capital, still I finally got to see it and I was so impressed, definitely worth the wait.
The exhibition is set in a circle shape letting you flow easily from era to era and dress to dress, some of my favourites were the wide hipped dresses of the early 19th Century moving on to the film projections of the Royal weddings of Princess Diana and Charles and of course, Kate Middleton and Prince William. The lighting was quite dark and that made the illuminated white (most of the dresses were the traditional wedding colour) stand out even more. Then you head up a short flight of stairs fixed in the middle of the room and find yourself submerged in dresses from singer Gwen Stefani to a stand out purple Vivienne Westwood number as worn by Dita Von Teese and a bejewelled Jenny Packham design to Kate Moss' embroidered peacock feather masterpiece. This was probably my absolute favourite part of the exhibition as it was of dresses I had already seen so much of and to learn the history was fantastic.
If, like me, you love your fashion with a little bit of a background then I highly recommend this exhibition, let me know if you've been or are heading there any time soon.

Bewitching Velvet

Dress c/o Chiara Fashion | Fedora ASOS | Chelsea Boots Truffles at ASOS | Bag Primark | Flower Necklace Primark
With halloween around the corner and having just been sent this amazing velvet dream of a dress from ChiaraFashion I thought it was only apt that I combine the two and create a little bewitching look for you guys. I loved this dress as soon as I received it, the texture and feel is absolutely amazing. It's so well made and fits me really well - stick to your usual size if you want to buy it as it's a perfect fit - I wasn't sure if it would show that well on camera but it's come up great and I think you get a real idea of the velvet texture through the lens.
With the halloween theme running through this post I used black and gold accessories to add a little drama to the whole look. What's a halloween night out without a little drama? Ahem. With my ASOS boots, that I have been living in recently, fedora and Primark necklace and bag I love the dramatic and dark atmosphere this whole look conveys and it's perfect to add a little fashion to your spooky halloween.

Pug Life
24 October 2014
If ever there was going to be a jumper most suited for me it would be this. When I was asked by CelebLook to pick whatever item I wanted from their fabulous site this little guy screamed out to me! I realise it's not going to be to everyone's taste but me being such a lover of dogs - well animals in general actually - I knew this was the piece I wanted to style up. It's so soft on the inside and incredibly well made, the pugs are all stitched on and there is no way this is going to fall apart, plus it's so thick it's going to see me straight through the winter. If you do love this jumper as much as me then head over to CelebLook and get your own for just £9.99, it comes in three different colours as well so you could get all three??...maybe not.
It's such fun jumper that I wanted to show you guys how you could style it up fashionably in a (kinda, sorta) chic way. I opted for my Primark midi skirt, which I lived in this summer, as I thought this would be a good way of showing how you can take summer pieces from your wardrobe into Autumn/ Winter. Using black accents such as the Shoe Zone boots and Primark bag I think this works really well for the weather right now and will carry on right through the November/ December months.

Winter Wonders

Fedora ASOS | Chelsea Boots Truffles at ASOS | White Top River Island (old) | Vivienne Westwood Amazon | Roll Neck Jumper New Look
I didn't mean for this post to be so lacking in colour but recently I have been buying a heck of a lot of black and white or reinventing black and white pieces I've found hidden in my wardrobe. I'd been eyeing up all the roll neck jumpers that have cropped up on the high street recently but I wasn't too sure if a. I would wear this style that much and b. if it would suit me. But as soon as I tried on this one from New Look I decided that I would wear it probably too much and damnnnnn it DOES suit me...hopefully.
The plain white tee, boots and fedora are all items I've had for quite a while and are absolute MUSTS for any wardrobe - if you don't suit this kind of hat then try others, there's going to be at least one that is going to look fab on you. I saw Vivienne Westwood had a new book coming out so off I went to buy it as soon as it hit stores and I can't wait to learn more about this fabulous, fashion forward woman. A must for any fashion lover, I can definitely see it being my go to bible.

Camel & Leopard

Camel Pea Coat ASOS | Trapeze Dress Primark (recent) | Chelsea Boots Truffle at ASOS | Leopard Print Shoulder Bag c/o Marla London
I found the perfect camel coat. A lot of the ones in shops and online this season seem to be too long for my liking and I wanted one that had a more 'long boyfriend blazer' kinda feel to it. Of course my one true love, ASOS held the camel dream I fell for and they had also sent me a 20% off code so it was a little less of a dent to the bank balance. It's double breasted so when you do it up it gives an extremely fitted look and has high, deep pockets to keep your handsies warm and snug as it continues to get colder out there.
For this look, I wanted simplicity and then a quiet bam! We all love a quiet bam right? Ahem...The white, trapeze dress from Primark offered the simplicity and this amazing leopard print bag from Marla London offered the quiet bam. Pulling it altogether are my new favourite boots - also from ASOS - they are the comfiest but most stylish boots I've ever bought and in a shiny black it means they'll pretty much go with anything you wear this Autumn/ Winter. The setting completely brings together everything I wanted to bring to this post - Autumn is here and it is B-E-A-UTIFUL, just look at those crunchy leaves!

Getting Lippy With It
17 October 2014
Kate Moss for Rimmel here | Rimmel 'In Love With A Ginger' here | The Body Shop Colour Crush collection here
Winter is on its way and with it comes a whole host of brave, bold lip colours. I've only recently started to get into the whole lipstick thang ( I know!) and it started when I did some major damage in my local Body Shop. The lady was so lovely to such a novice like me and helped me choose the right shades for me. I'd highly recommend chatting to a beauty profesh before embarking on your lipstick journey as all the colours I wanted were completely wrong for my skin colour...oops.
As I'm quite fair with a natural dark lip I can get away with being bold with my lipsticks, these four pictured above are an example of how I'm trying to get braver than just whacking on some colourless lip gloss. The pink from the Rimmel Kate collection is actually quite subtle, though it shows it to be a bit bolder in these pictures and are for the days when I want something teeny tiny on my lips. The two darker colours are PERFECT for autumn/ winter and are my from my aforementioned Body Shop haul - these are the colours that suit me best and I'm so glad they do, I love them! The last is a little risqué for moi, bright red can be hard for a lot of people to work with but I think if you have a strong brow - like I thankfully do - it can work so well.
I'm looking for a 90s nude lippy, any recommendations? Leave them below!

Bedroom Snippets
15 October 2014
I've been suffering with a hell of a cold at the moment so unfortunately have yet to venture outside let alone take some outfit posts for you guys - plus it's really cold and wet out there. No thanks. So, instead I decided to let you have a little look around my (teeny, tiny) bedroom and get an insight into the things that make it feel like home, I LOVE these kind of posts (I'm nosy) and thought you would too. I have a lot of interests, fashion and music probably being the two main culprits, so my room is a bit of a mish mash of all these things I love - however I'm pretty OCD when it comes to keeping my room tidy so everything has its place.
Brown bear - he has become a new/ old addition to the room, my auntie (who passed away recently) got him for me when I was born and quite a poorly baby and I'd thought I'd lost him, dad found him in the loft, of course. She also gave me the porcelain doll and the little hedgehog ornament was here - she loved hedgehogs. Cushions - I want to make some more and I actually got some patchwork fabric to make them it's just having the energy to do it. As I'm in the little room now and just have a single day bed (yay) it's nice to have lots of cushions to make it a bit comfier. Books - I read A LOT and I read a little bit of everything. Some books I own belonged to my mum's friend who passed away and are Jane Austen classics that have some history to them others I've picked up on various art gallery trawls or have just shown a bit of interest to me (I'm a QI nerd). Typewriter and Turntable - if any of you are 'avid readers' of my blog then you'll already know what a freak I am about the past, wishing I had been born in the 50s so I could have totally rocked the 60s is a dream I have frequently. These two items take me back to that time (though I was never there) and give the sounds, quality and look I imagine the 60s to be.
I can't talk about every little thing otherwise we'd be here for days, but I hope you enjoyed this little insight into my world. What are the things in your room you couldn't live without? Let me know below.

Autumn Favourites
13 October 2014
Hearts and Lips Top River Island | w7 In The Buff eye palette Amazon | A-Line Skirt Matalan | Fujifilm Instax Mini Argos | Alexa Chung IT Amazon | Tartan Scarf Primark (recent purchase) | Daisy by Marc Jacobs Boots
I LOVE Autumn. I love layering clothes up. I love the dark colours. I love how creative you can be with outfits. And I love that my pale, white legs gets to hide in lovely, warm tights. It really is the best, although I am currently holed up in bed nursing one hell of an autumnal cold, I don't care - it's still love at first sight. So, with that in mind I decided to show you some things I have already been using and liking this season. My polaroid is probably one of the best things I've ever bought myself, I'm a sucker for vintage (silly hipster) and the effect this camera gives photos is amazing (I did a review so read it here if you're thinking of getting one).
The W7 eyeshadow palette was a bargain and I've used it so much, as was my Daisy by Marc Jacobs perfume - I got it free with the Elle magazine subscription this month - both get a huge thumbs up from Sam. Onto a couple of my favourite fashion bits, the scarf is of course a Primark number and the colours and tartan print is so in keeping with Autumn, as is my new skirt. Me and mum took a trip to Matalan and their new range has now come into stores - the skirts are so so pretty I got this check one and also a camel colour both in this sixties A-Line style, I can't wait to style them up and show you. Lastly, the top. It's something completely out of my comfort zone but when I saw it online I had to order it - it's embellished on the hearts so adds a bit of depth and the fun aspect I love with clothing is completely there.
What have you been loving so far? Let me know in the comments below.

Lush Haul
10 October 2014
Go to LUSH
What I bought Pop In The Bath | Luxury Lush Pud | Butterbear | Think Pink | The Christmas Penguin | Father Christmas | Granny Takes a Dip
This is a post I'd never thought I'd be writing for two reasons: 1. it's only October and I'm talking about Christmas and 2. I've only started to appreciate Lush recently - I'm a Lush newbie you could say. This could be because the smell is so overwhelming from the high street store and I suffer with terrible headaches triggered by any faint stink around me or maybe it's because I simply never made the effort to try their totally unique products.
But once seeing the new Christmas range I just had to place a little (turning into a lottle) online order. Ordering this way prevents me from actually being hit with all the Lush smells of the store while helping me to still get my bath bomb fix. Some of them came a little mushed but they still smell INCREDIBLE and I can't wait to use each and every one. As well as santa, the penguin and a Christmas pud I also wanted some of the bombs I had heard so many good things about. Baths for me are something I look forward to every night - yup, every night Granny Merritt has to have her bath - and I can't wait to make them look and smell amazing.
Have you been to see the new Christmas range? Let me know what you think too.
