What I Got For Christmas '15

My lovely mum knows just how much I've been loving suede this year, so bought me two new things to add to my ever-growing 70s fabric obsession! The cross body bag from Oasis is great for me as I don't really carry a lot on me when going out and about, I also really love the colour of it as it'll go with pretty much everything I own and wear. The jacket is from ASOS and, even though it looks more brown here it's actually a mix between brown and khaki green – mum gave me this as an early gift but I'm still counting it as a Christmas pressie.

So it wouldn't be Christmas if I didn't get some 'out of the norm' childish gifts, and my family and friends know me well enough to know that unicorn's are the best bet! These slippers from ASOS are absolutely amazing, they're out of stock now (boooo) so I'm so glad mum got them early – comfy and soft, they're also a hit with Daisy dog! One of my bestie's Lottie – she has a blog too, check it out here – picked me up this unicorn hottie (maybe because it rhymes with her name?) from Topshop, I've named him Ulysses and this little guy smells of lavender and can be popped in the microwave as and when you need a little bit of heat. And what Christmas isn't complete without a bit of stationery? I love this design from TKMaxx, definitely worth a look in the high street store if you're after some pretty notebooks!

I didn't realise I had asked for so much makeup stuff so when all this was in my stocking it was like a mini surprise – the thing I was most excited about receiving was my new makeup bag from Maggs London. If you're not familiar with the Michalaks on Youtube then get to know them and learn more about this lovely little family (and Hannah's amazing bags). I had asked for this design or a floral one, but was secretly pleased I got this one named 'The Fair One', each bag is named after something in Hannah's life so you're getting a pretty product with a little bit of a story. The three things I am super excited to try out are the W7 palettes and this Benefit tin that sold out so quickly (but there's different versions still available, go go go!) in particular the Hoola bronzer and High Beam highlighter look amazing. The last things (beauty-wise) are now completely sold out annoyingly and it's these Clinique 7 Days of Lipstick which range from nude colours to bright reds – great for every day of the week!

The only perfume I used to wear was Escada and while I still love that brand, they get discontinued to quickly I had to find another love PRONTO! Of course, the floral smells of the Mard Jacobs Daisy perfumes is enough to make any gal fall weak at the knees so my mum and brother bought me two of the scents, Daisy Sorbet which is one of my absolute favourite smells and one that I hadn't tried before – Daisy So Fresh! Mum picked me up a small stocking filler in the form of this adorable manicure set, knowing I'm a vintage fan she thought this would be right up my street.

Yes I'm slightly taking the mick when I say 'the kool kids' obviously as ADIDAS Stan Smith trainers are something I never thought I would actually own, or want to own for that matter. But when I saw them on the model on ASOS I thought they would really suit me and, as a lover of comfy footwear, I'd get a lot of wear out of them, too. It isn't Christmas until you put the new pyjamas on, both my mum and myself got this set from Primark as we instantly fell in love with the design (I also got some with polar bears on them, but was wearing them as I took these photos, tehe). And we're finally at the end… And I got myself a terrarium! Watch this space for a how to guide on moving your cacti into this lovely little home!
Hope you all got whatever you were wishing for from Santa and spent lots of quality time with your friends and family! This isn't a post to brag about what I got, I like writing these sorts of posts and I know nosy people like me enjoy seeing what people got – see you Friday for my New Year's post!
Christmas Day OOTD
28 December 2015
Yay, I'm back to blogging! Hope you didn't miss me too much over the past week or so and that you all had a lovely Christmas, gearing up for a fun new year! After eating far too much (can you ever eat too much though really) I took time out from munching and started to get snapping again – I actually got a little snap happy and started shooting content for all the way up to February… I love being organised! Anyway on to what I wore for Christmas day, well I say Christmas day but it was mainly Christmas morning – the pyjamas came out ASAP after lunch was consumed.
I bought this dress while visiting friends in Southampton from the Topshop there, I'd been lusting after it for a while but couldn't justify spending £40+ on it, but then it had some money off so ended up coming home with me. I love the warm colours featured in it, the fit and of course THOSE bell sleeves, oh and it has pockets – a dress with pockets is my favourite thing, ever! My fluffy bag and fluffy shoes also made an appearance because really, how much fluff is too much fluff?
Stay tuned for Wednesday's post all about what I got this Christmas (FYI, it isn't a bragging post, just for nosey people like me who enjoy seeing what other people got).
Blogging break & christmas wishes!
20 December 2015
Well, well, well…here we are on a Sunday, which is most unusual for me – in fact, I've never posted at the weekend before but I thought there should be some explanation as to why I'm taking a blogging break (oh and I wanted to spread some merriment at the same time, too)…
I've been blogging constantly, every week for two years now and I've finally thought why have I never had a break? I post three times a week and have done this for a long old while now, and while I have a lot of content I could quite easily write up and schedule right this second – instead I'm going to take a break – only for a week though, never fear! Tis the season to eat, drink and be merry and I just decided perhaps a month or so ago I would quite like a relaxing Christmas just with the family and friends this year, it's the first year I'm not in retail so can enjoy a whole 10 days off, rather than just the two.
It will also give me time to think about what I want to do with my blog, any ideas?, I love the way it's going at the moment and I feel I'm still as enthusiastic about it now as I was when I first started (maybe more as there seems to be a few more people reading it). If you're a blogger yourself reading this then you'll probably understand completely why a week off is necessary, if you're not a blogger then you're probably thinking 'jeez, it's just a blog'. But blogging takes a lot of hard work and planning, for me anyway, I like to keep at least two weeks ahead with my blog and I'm constantly thinking about it – it's a 24/7, 7 days a week hobby.
I'll be back on 28th December with a couple of post-Christmas posts and we'll just see where it takes me, until then it'll be quiet on here, but be sure to click on the social media icons and keep up to date with me over there.
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT!
The Blanket Scarf
18 December 2015
Even if it is unseasonably warm out there, there's always a need for a scarf! This one from ASOS is absolutely perfect for the not-so-cold weather, and great as a simple cover-up when you don't actually need a coat. I love the colours in this one, as it adds a little bit of warmth to the outfit – while I normally wear colder colours as I think that suits me better I like to switch it up every now and then, and this is a now and then time.
I decided to belt this huge blanket scarf with a simple, thin brown belt and black roll neck from Primark, accessorising with my favourite ASOS jeans of the moment (step aside Joni jeans), my £1 charity shop bargain bag and Primark boots. This is the perfect look to take you from work to evening fun with the girls and I love it!
I'm taking a break from blogging to enjoy Christmas festivities, more on that in my special Sunday post, so stay tuned for that…

Gwen Stefani x Urban Decay
16 December 2015
If you're a beauty fiend or you're buying for someone else who loves all things beauty, then this is the post for you… A little while a go Urban Decay announced their collaboration with the pop babe that is Gwen Stefani and the blogging world got seriously excited – but nothing could prepare everyone (myself included) for this beautiful make-up necessity! First things first, let's talk about the outer casing…erm, how pretty is it? A gorgeous gold frame with a magnetic clasp keeping all the shades protected and making it super easy to open and close fast – perfect for a quick get ready and go!
Open it up and you're hit with shade upon shade (all 15 off them) of pretty colour perfect for every skin tone. From a pale shimmery cream to a warm taupe, and an eye-popping electric blue to a smokey eye perfecter – everything's in there for any look. Christmas party? Opt for 'Danger' or 'Punk' to make a serious statement! Drinks with the girls? Create a beautiful smokey eye with 'Blackout'. Or, if you're just wanting a little something different for everyday then go for 'Bathwater' and 'Zone'. Wondering about the names? The popstar extraordinaire Gwen Stefani herself named them all, giving each one a personal connection to herself and her music – which I think makes this palette worth the money even more!
Who doesn't want a bit of Gwen in their make-up collection?

Grey Layering
14 December 2015
The best way to start any Monday? With grey, grey, oh and more grey!…and some black thrown in there. This outfit came from a little (ok, huge) Primark Bristol trip I had a month or so ago and I love all the things I bought there and couldn't wait to put an outfit together – that's obviously on a budget but still looks pretty chic (I think).
The roll neck, while it's a little itchy, it's super cosy and adds some texture to the outfit and the black jeans (from ASOS) are sooooooooo comfortable and fit really well, they're actually my new favourites – like, they've overtaken the Topshop Joni Jeans really build the fashion foundations of this look. Then with a coat (also from Primark) flung over the outfit, suede looking fringe back and Chelsea boots this outfit is perfect for any day and every day of Christmas!
Want to feel less chic and more practical? Put your arms in the actual arm holes…

#3 Embellished Fit & Flare

Christmas day outfit
The third and final day of my festive outfits is here! Doesn't time fly when you're having fun? And, I think this might just be my favourite look so far and, it's the one I thought would be perfect if you wanted to get dressed up and all fancy for your Christmas day meal. Reason why I think this dress is perfect for said occasion? It's a fit and flare aka a skater dress aka plenty of room for the belly to expand – perfect for that Christmas roast. This fancy little black dress is from Poppy Lux at Sugarhill Boutique and fits me and my personality right down to the ground – I absolutely love this brand and the goodies they have on offer. They've recently set up an outlet store in Clark's Village which is super near to me (so super dangerous for my purse) and I've already purchased a fair few things, including one of my favourite tops ever (see more on my Instagram).
The dress fits like a glove, and is really flattering for my body shape – but the thing I love the most about it is the embellished collar! The black and diamante flowers are a beautiful little statement to add to an otherwise plain dress – the perfect touch of sparkle for Christmas time celebrating around the table with family. I decided to accessorise with a little clutch bag from River Island that I've had for years and still I bring it out every now and then for a special occasion, and Christmas is definitely a special occasion!
Hope you've enjoyed my little festive outfits and it's given you some ideas for your own celebrations! See ya Monday…
#2 Velvet Underground

Going out out…
So what does day two of the festivities bring? Why, it's a night out with the girls! And what better way to celebrate with your best gal pals than in blue velvet? This playsuit from Topshop is the absolute epitome of Christmas, without being cheesy – high neckline with a deep V, rich blue colour and velvet!!!! I love velvet and the way it fits, also the way it changes in different lights makes it great for Christmas parties, just don't spill your drink down it.
I added another texture into the mix for this look, my new(ish) bag from Primark – seriously, their bags and accessories are SO SO good at the moment – in this faux suede material and fringe detailing. Also the fact that it's gold hardware makes me super happy. I decided again to wear my chelsea boots with this outfit, if you don't own a pair of this style of boot I highly recommend you do – they literally go with anything and everything. A dark berry lip works well as a juxtaposition of colour with this outfit, bringing another rich colour into the look, the lipstick is actually a lip crayon from Primark and, at only £1.50 it's a serious bargain.
Stay tuned for look number three coming up Friday…

The work Christmas party!
As we're well and truly in the swing of things with December I thought it was about time I showed you some of the party wear on offer online and on the high street! Today, Wednesday and Friday will be completed dedicated to three different looks for three different festive occasions – today's? It's the work Christmas party look, of course! I loved this dress and soon as I spotted it in Primark I wanted it, but the problem was it came in both black and white – clearly you know which one I went for but it was a tough decision! I basically chose white for something different, we all love a LBD but I have so many (one more coming Friday) that I thought to hell with it, go white like a snowflake!
I added my Primark fluffy clutch bag that I'm absolutely LOVING at the moment, as I thought it would be a good contrast with the white, obviously. My chelsea boots bought last year from ASOS were also thrown into the mix as I don't really wear heels because of my height – also if you're gong straight from work to your works do then you want to be comfy, don't you? This is a look that I thought you could either wear all day then add the fluffy bag, dark lip and eye liner later or it's easy enough to take to work with you and get changed.
See you Wednesday for look two!
