This weekend just gone I had some time off work so decided to visit my friend Larissa in London. Now, being from Somerset means I really enjoy an escape from the quiet countryside and try to get to the bustle of lovely London as much as I can - I know, normally people are trying to escape this City but nope, not me. I made the arduous 3 hour journey there (I got numb bum syndrome, didn't I) and then had some time to kill before I had to meet my friend so decided to head to South Kensington for a nose at some of the houses and a quick look in one of my favourite places, the V&A. Cue lots of photos being taken and a much needed Pret - gosh, they do good wraps! I then met Larissa and we headed back to her flat in Wimbledon to get ready for a yummy Italian at Al Forno and then headed to The Terrace for some even yummier cocktails - I'm a sucker for a Pina Colada!
The next day started with Larissa's famous pancakes and us spontaneously deciding to visit London Zoo - I'll admit it wasn't the nicest weather so we were a bit skeptical as to whether we would see many animals but we saw so many! I think it may have been the best day of my life...how sad. From petting goats to seeing my animal alter ego, the giraffe, visiting Penguin Beach at the exact time they were feeding them and finding Nemo in the Aquarium it was all good fun and so much better than I think either of us was expecting. It's really hard to believe you're actually still in London when you visit this zoo and as we were in Camden I of course took some snaps of the beautiful blossom trees and probably the prettiest church I'd ever seen. But with weary heads and aching feet (shouldn't have worn my 'too small for me' boots) we headed home and tucked into our Chinese takeaway while watching Saturday night tele and realising we had to go to bed as the clocks were going forward! Gah, beauty sleep!
I awoke Sunday morning to Larissa heading out to grab pastries for us before I had to make my journey back to Somerset. all good things must come to an end, I guess. Oh, and if you're thinking about going to London Zoo but are sitting on the fence, I say go!!
Now, back to normality...
Keep up to date with me via:
