When I found out Alexa Chung was doing a capsules collection for Marks & Spencer I, of course, got seriously excited! But, that was several months ago and for a while I was not even close to owning a piece after many many many attempts after it went in and out of stock for what seemed like forever. But, Marks & Spencer announced a big summer sale and low and behold the collection was in that sale, and I finally nabbed a piece (or two) of, in my opinion, one of the best collaborations in a long old time. This polkadot dream dress with fluted puffed sleeves was something I had my eye on the minute the collection was out into the real world. I think the fit and style is seriously flattering and, while it's from the Alexa collection, you don't have to have her slim frame to pull it off!
I feel like this is a dress that will go the distance, in the sense that it's well made (obviously, it's M&S) and it'll look great in summer with trainers like this look or layered up with a cosy knitted cardigan, tights and boots in winter. Obviously, I am tall so the length is a little short on my but do I care? Nope! It's not my fault I have an extra bit of leg so I'm just going to own it from now on and wear the short dress - I love this dress so nothing was going to stop me from wearing it. The cute tie at the front gives a little extra detail and the polkadot design gives a modern twist on the 1950s, it's become one of my favourite pieces in my wardrobe - now I'm excited for the next Alexa collection, hopefully coming soon!
