Primark Haul Spring '18
8 April 2018 London, UK
What better way to welcome in spring (who else spotted that big yellow thing in the sky this week? this gal did) than with a little Primark haul! I've been popping in to Primark pretty much as and when I've been near one - that's either Wood Green or Tottenham Court Road as I'm based in Islington in London. Looking at various High Street stores right now it's clear that they don't really have a clue what to offer their shoppers, mainly as we're in the middle of two VERY different seasons but, that being said I still managed to spend a good amount of money and pick up a few new pieces for my warmer wardrobe. PS. some of these items were sent to me from the lovely Primark PR girls so I'll just mark those with a *, but this isn't a sponsored post with the brand...a girl can dream...
STRIPED & EMBROIDERED DRESS
Probably my favourite outfits to throw together in spring is a strappy dress worn over a plain white T-shirt with either Converse or sandals. I picked this dress up when the weather outside was shockingly bad and I was like screw this I need some summer, pls. I really like the stripes contrasted with the embroidered flowers and it's not at all see-through which is what you can get with some of Primark's pieces, can't you? Plus, it's a really good length and I've already tried it with a T-shirt underneath and it works really well, so when it's finally bare-legged weather I'm excited to give this dress its first outing.
FLORAL WRAP BLOUSE
HOW Topshop does this blouse look? I really couldn't believe that this was a Primark top when I saw it. I definitely made the right decision when I made sure I tried this one on in store though as the sizing is all askew (especially if you have big boobs, fyi) I ended up getting this one in a size 16 and, even though I've probably put on weight, I definitely haven't gone from a size 12 to a 16 in three weeks. I'm excited to wear this one just with jeans, a denim oversized jacket and high waisted jeans with trainers and then change it up and put it with a leather skirt and boots for party time. Not that I party, but, ya know, the idea's there.
CACTUS CANDLE* & TROPICAL LEAF THROW*
Primark seems to be absolutely killing it with their homeware at the moment (aside from all the Disney stuff they have) and it's hard to control myself when I want to buy every single thing - whether it matches my theme or not! Their throws are super soft and the candles, while they don't smell all that strong, are so atheistically pleasing and have such an affordable price point I just want to buy them all! I'll definitely be heading there for some more soon, obviously.
PINAFORE DRESS
I've already got a lot of wear out of this dress. Right now, I'm wearing it with tights, roll neck top and boots then I'll change that to a white top and trainers when summer comes. It's super thin (but not in a bad way) and features these two big pockets on the front. It also comes in a few more colours and believe when I say, I was stood there for about 10 minutes trying to pick which colour to go for but I'm glad I went for this pale one with red and yellow running through it as it makes it slip seamlessly into spring!
FLORAL BUTTON THROUGH BLOUSE
Much like the pink floral wrap blouse, I was pleasantly surprised when this floral number caught my eye in store. This is my style of top when it comes to going out out or just for work with jeans and loafers (I work in a very casual office environment). I love the sleeves on this as I'm currently hating on the tops of my arms and the pretty green and pinks just work perfectly, along with the buttons and tie detailing, it's just a great 'all-rounder' to have in your wardrobe.
PHOTO STANDS*
How CUTE are these photo stands?! Perfect for your polaroids I love this cactus (got a little cactus obsession going on there, Primark?) and heart designs that are just perfect to pop on your shelf to add a personal touch to your room. The base of the stands is weighted to they don't topple over either, win!
POLKADOT WRAP TOP
I think I went a little overboard with all the wrap tops I bought (in my defence, this haul wasn't in one trip, there were multiple visits) but polkadots is meant to be one of THE prints to buy for spring so I allowed myself one more top...This one is a lot looser and a bit more see through than the others, so much so that it's probably best worn over a strappy top underneath (which isn't really my vibe as it makes me look like I've got one giant boob) or over a bikini with shorts if you're headed on holiday.
STITCH SWEATSHIRT
I wasn't sure if I should put this in my haul but, I'm not ashamed for my love of Disney ~particularly Lilo & Stitch~ so thought I WOULD share this gorgeous jumper with you. It's not something I would wear in the outside world (no judgement if you would) but I love it for when I'm just getting cosy in the evening and at the weekend in my joggers. The inside material is so soft and fleecy, it's a struggle to take it off!
My Coats & Jackets Collection
3 April 2018 London, UK
Well hello there my babes, supposedly we've hit spring here in England but as I look outside the window on this bleak Easter Monday I realise this is the perfect time for me to write up today's post - one that I've had on the back burner for far too long. I really didn't appreciate just how many coats and jackets I actually had in my collection until I started shooting them all...it took me just over an hour (sometimes, self timer just won't play ball) and I definitely got a little bored come the end! A lot of them you will have seen over on my Instagram but some are one's that have been in my wardrobe for years so sometimes get a little forgotten. Anyway, I'll stop rambling now, grab a cuppa as I think this might be a long one...
PINK BORG JACKET // TOPSHOP (shop similar)
So I thought I'd start with my absolute favourite coat! I bought this at the end of the January and have basically worn it every other day since getting it. Everything about this baby, from the cute retro black buttons to the deep pockets and the huge collar has my name on it and I love that 60s vibes it gives. I mostly wear it with jeans, boots and a plain white jumper right now as it's so chilly but I'm hoping come spring it'll look equally as good with a floral midi dress!
RED TRUCKER JACKET // MISSGUIDED (different colours here)
It felt like there was a moment on Instagram where every single fashion blogger had come together and chosen this jacket as THE one to have for autumn/ winter. This one actually comes in so many colours so it was super hard to choose between the green and the red but, red is a colour I don't normally go for so I thought 'why the heck not?' It's in a great oversized fit and is too soft to ever take off! And with an office as cold as mine, that's what you need.
TEDDY COAT // ASOS (similar here)
No, that isn't Del Boy in his finest attire, complete with Baker boy hat, that's this old gal working a look that's completely out of her comfort zone. I wanted to experiment with my coat's in winter 2017 and I think this one is actually a great staple coat for any gal's collection...if you're brave enough and ready for the Del Boy remarks from boys who just don't understand fashun, that is! It's the ultimate duvet coat but still makes you look super put together and, let's face it, that's the dream, isn't it?!
SHEARLING AVIATOR JACKET // F&F for TESCO (similar here)
This was one of my bargains of the year and I'm so annoyed F&F aren't selling it anymore but, I'm sure it'll be coming back for next winter so get ready for that! I'd seen the usual high street ones from the likes of Zara but I didn't want to spend nearly £100 on this sort of coat (even though, I've definitely done that before). This one is such nice quality and it's actually a lot softer and more luxe looking than even that Zara one.
DENIM BORG JACKET // PRIMARK
I literally lost my mind this year when it came to buying coats but this one I bought first way back in September last year and it's great for when I'm not really making an effort with my outfit, which is a lot of the time. Thrown over jeans and a jumper you can't really go wrong, I've been to Primark recently (as you'll soon see) and they still have plenty of different styles so GO GO GO!
FAUX LEATHER JACKET // ASOS (similar here)
I think I'll always need a faux leather jacket in my collection and after wearing my real leather jacket from Next to death and not really looking after it, I needed to find another one to replace it with. Leather jackets are perfect for spring (especially the British spring) so I know I'm still going to get a lot of wear out of this one this year.
CHECKED BLAZER // PRIMARK
Much like the trusty faux leather jacket, you can't go wrong with a checked blazer! I picked this one up before I took a trip to Paris last year in September and it was the perfect time of year to wear it. I particularly loved the length of this one when I spotted it in Primark and I love the effortlessly chic look you get from a blazer. Just wear it with jeans, a plain T-shirt and some black loafers and you have a great outfit ready for spring!
YELLOW RAINCOAT // ASOS (similar here)
I bought this coat soooo long ago and it still fits me, so that's a win in itself! This one's great for when it's warm outside but still bladdy raining buckets - so a coat perfect for the classic British summer, then. With this one, I really liked the vintage feel to it and the fact that it was both yellow and white with the contrasting white on yellow buttons.
VINTAGE LEVI'S DENIM JACKET // VINTAGE FAIR (similar here)
Aside from my pink coat, this is probably my most worn jacket in my entire collection. I've actually worn it so much I want to get another one in black so I can work the double denim look with blue jeans (properly I mean, not like in this photos that's just a little too 80s for my liking). I bought this one from a vintage fair in Bristol ages ago and it's seen me well, I would recommend, if you were going to get one of these vintage jackets, that you head to a fair rather than looking online but ASOS Marketplace is a pretty good place to have a look.
KHAKI JACKET // H&M (similar here)
If you're after a lightweight jacket to throw over spring dresses or just a denim skirt and slogan T-shirt then this is the one for you! I bought this a year or so ago from H&M and have gotten so much wear out of it and still wear it layered up in winter and open in the spring/ summer months. It also looks great done up and tied at the waist.
