Afternoon Tea, Aubaine Selfridges

2 February 2021 London, UK

Didn't I tell you there would be another afternoon tea post after my Chesterfield review? You can always count on my to come through with the goods when it comes to an afternoon tea recommendation...even if it is one year later... Larissa (my afternoon tea partner in crime) went to Aubaine, Selfridges a little while back (pre lockdown, of course) and absolutely loved it - considering it's Selfridges, it's at a really good price point for the amount of food you get and, obviously we went for the Champagne option!

MENU

SAVOURY

Finger sandwiches of tomato & mozzarella,
chicken, avocado & basil, ham & cheese,
smoked salmon & cucumber and brie & truffle

SWEET

Scones with jam & clotted cream
Pecan brownie
Carrot cake
French macaron
Dulce de leche éclair
Seasonal fruit tart

Famous for the pretty but fake (I absolutely thought it was real) Wisteria, hanging from the ceiling Aubaine is set up right in the middle of the second floor in Selfridges in the heart of London Oxford Street. So, whilst you're shopping for a new handbag you can also grab yourself a delicious afternoon tea, WIN! The sandwiches were absolutely perfect and had a great selection of fillings on offer as you can see from the menu above - it also made a change not to have just the 'standard' ham and chutney or egg and cress.

Once the savouries were done with, it was onto some yummy scones with jam and clotted cream, of course and some cute mini cakes! The éclair was my personal fave but, let's be honest, I'm not one to be picky when it comes to dessert. The Veuve Clicquot Champagne that we opted for made our afternoon tea £35 per person (£27.50 without Champers) which is actually probably one of the cheaper London afternoon teas I've been to - surprising considering it's in Selfridges.

Finger's crossed once lockdown's lifted I can pay another visit!
